And then there is Meowhomez.

My cat stayed with Abdul and Sumaiah for almost two months, from August 2 to September 28, while I coordinated her international relocation. After this experience, I genuinely cannot imagine entrusting a cat to better people.

Their home is a cat’s dream. It is exceptionally clean and organized while still being completely designed around feline comfort and enrichment: cat trees, hammocks, toys, fountains, self-cleaning litter boxes, comfortable resting areas, abundant windows for entertainment, and seemingly endless places to climb, explore and relax. It genuinely feels less like conventional boarding and more like sending your cat on their own luxurious vacation.

Communication throughout the entire stay was phenomenal. I received an update every single day, usually accompanied by multiple photos. I was thousands of kilometres away, yet I was able to see my cat eating, sleeping, playing, recovering, making friends and enjoying her day-to-day life. For nearly two months, I never had to chase them for reassurance or wonder what was happening with my cat. That consistency gave me something invaluable: complete peace of mind.

My cat arrived extremely wary of both the unfamiliar environment and the other cats. She had never been comfortable socializing with other cats, and I had always wished she could learn to accept and enjoy their company. Abdul and Sumaiah never forced her. They gave her a safe space, worked at her pace, made her feel secure, and gradually introduced her to the household.

The transformation was incredible. As different boarding guests came and went over the following weeks, I watched a cat who had initially been highly territorial become increasingly relaxed, receptive and friendly toward other cats. By the end of her stay, socializing with other cats had become a normal part of her life.

For me, that alone is priceless. Meowhomez did not simply look after my cat; her time there genuinely enriched her life and helped her develop socially in a way I had hoped for for years.

Their individual attention is also exceptional. Despite caring for other cats, my cat was never treated like one animal among many. They learned her personality, played with her individually, trimmed her nails, noticed her habits and preferences, and clearly knew her as an individual cat. The level of attention was closer to what I would expect from family than from a boarding service.

They were also extraordinarily accommodating of the complicated logistics surrounding my cat’s international relocation. They safely kept her extensive and extremely important travel documentation, accommodated veterinary appointments and recovery requirements, and helped me coordinate her final travel arrangements with the relocation company to ensure that her final pickup went smoothly.

If you are anxious about leaving your cat with strangers, particularly for an extended stay, I cannot recommend Meowhomez highly enough. The standard here goes far beyond feeding, litter cleaning and supervision. It is a beautiful, enriched, cage-free environment run by two people who become genuinely invested in the animals entrusted to them.

I originally needed somewhere for my cat to stay.

What I found was somewhere she could belong.

There are not enough stars for the experience my cat and I had with Abdul and Sumaiah. If a hundred stars were an option, I would give them all ten without hesitation.

Meowhomez was the greatest stroke of luck in my cat’s entire relocation journey, and choosing them was one of the best decisions I could possibly have made for her ❤️🐾
